Chelsea FC: the road to stardon

Chelsea win 128th FA Cup final31.05.09 | Ian FerrisDespite falling behind to early goal, Chelsea eased to a 2-1 FA Cup final victory over Everton at Wembley.
Everton had the perfect start when Louis Saha volleyed the Merseysider's in front with the quickest ever Cup final goal after only 25 seconds.
Yet they failed to build on this strike and allowed Chelsea back into the game and it was no surprise when Didier Drogba equalised with a powerful header after 21 minutes.
Everton struggled to create chances in the stifling heat and with Chelsea always in control it was no surprise when the team from Stamford Bridge took a deserved lead on 72 minutes through Frank Lampard.
In fact the scoreline could have been more emphatic as the officials failed to award Florent Malouda a goal as his 30 yard effort crashed against the crossbar and bounced over the line.
Chelsea held on comfortably to provide Guus Hiddink with a fitting send-off in his final game in charge.
Scorer of the winning goal Frank Lampard told Setanta Sports, "It's great to win for the club and for the fans who have had to put up with a lot lately.
"It was the highlight of my Father's career to score at Wembley and it's also my highlight to score the goal that wins Chelsea the cup.
"It was very important we won today after two years without a trophy because a club like Chelsea needs to be winning things and this will give us confidence for next season."
Asked if this result made up for the disappointments of the Champions League and Premier League, Lampard replied, "At the moment it makes up for it completely as these are the moments you live for in football.
"We deserved to get through to the (Champions League) final and today we deserved to win the cup."

Who is the man behind this success, all thanks to the inspiring and golden fingered manager "Guus Hiddink" who trasformed the team into a powerful standing bridge in the mist of premiership giants like Arsenal, Man. Utd and Liverpool.
